Trump Administration & Federal Government
We track federal legislation, budgets, policies, events and other issues with the aid of our Trump Administration & Federal Government Working Group. Each week, this team of volunteers shares news stories, research and other information on the federal government, discusses which items are ripe for action, and writes calls to action (C2As) that inform others and offer suggested actions. Members volunteer about an hour a week–a little more if they are writing that week’s call to action–and conduct their business via a closed Facebook page. Our C2As are distributed to 15,000-20,000 Mainers each week via our email list, our member forum and our partnerships with other regional and state groups. You can read some of our most recent C2As below.
If these topics are important to you and you have an hour or two to spare over an entire week, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org about joining our Trump Administration & Federal Government Working Group!

Trump eliminated the DACA program and his incoherent and racist policy positions are propelling the government toward a second shutdown. Bipartisan bills have been introduced in the House and Senate that can resolve the crisis.
QUICK ACTION: Speak out publicly in support of DACA, and tell your MoC: no more delays. Support the bipartisan “Phase One” bills and solve the DACA crisis before their time runs out.
Trump has already tried once to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and efforts to discredit the investigation have reached a fever pitch. A national rapid response effort is planned should Trump succeed in firing Mueller, with protest locations prepared all over Maine.
QUICK ACTION: Find the location nearest you, and demand that our MoC co-sponsor legislation to protect Mueller’s investigation.
We await word on a Senate vote to end the government shut down, expected at noon on Monday. It appears Senator Collins is playing a key role in bringing a bipartisan groups of senators together to find common ground.
